Justices of the Peace - Honorary Justices
JP's can authorise and witness many documents including statutory declarations and affadavits within Victoria.

Australian Government - Do Not Call Register
The Do Not Call Register is administered by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). Individuals can register for free their home phone and mobile phone numbers by internet, post or telephone. Visit their website for more information.

Petitions
A petition is a direct way for citizens or groups to place their concerns before Parliament and ask for action to be taken.  It is a way of demonstrating to the government issues that members of the public feel strongly about.

 

Congratulatory Messages

Messages are available for -

90th birthday
100th birthday
50th wedding anniversary (Golden)
60th wedding anniversary (Diamond) and each year after

Applications should be made on the 'Request for Congratulatory Message' form which is available from my office. A period of one month's notice is recommended for processing requests.

Belated messages may be made up to one month after the birthday or wedding anniversary has passed, unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Free Victorian Flags

Free Victorian Flags are provided by the Department of Premier and Cabinet to community groups and voluntary organisations to display on an exterior flag pole or at public meetings.

If your organisation does not qualify for a free flag they may be purchased from commercial suppliers.

Seniors

Seniors Card
The Seniors Card is available to persons aged 60 years or over who are permanent residents of Victoria and who are employed less than 35 hours per week or not in paid employment. If you would like an application form visit my office and pick one up or phone 5799 2760 and we will post one out to you OR call the Seniors Card Hotline on 1300 797210.

The Office of Senior Victorians is committed to enhancing the quality of life of seniors by promoting positive ageing and encouraging the community to plan for an ageing population. www.seniors

Council on the Ageing
COTA Victoria is the peak body representing the wide-ranging needs and interests of older people in the Victorian community. www.cotavic

State Concessions
The Victorian Government offers concessions to holders of -

  • Pensioner Concession Card
  • Health Care Card
  • Certain Veterans' Affairs cards.

Discounts are available on the following -

  • gas, water and electricity bills
  • council rates
  • public transport
  • stamp duty on properties
  • car registration
  • other services

Legislative Assembly

Petitions need to follow a particular format before they can be tabled in the Legislative Assembly. There is a format to follow and rules about content, language, signatures and arranging presentation.

To ensure your petition is accepted and tabled in the Assembly please go to the Parliament of Victoria website and read or download the fact sheets available - www.parliament.vic.gov.au
