Sentencing Advisory Council
The Council is an independent statutory body, established in 2004 under amendments to the Sentencing Act 1991. The Council has a number of functions, one of which is to gauge public opinion on sentencing. The Sentencing Advisory Council regularly reviews particular sentencing issues and they are interested in the views of community members and experts, inviting submissions on issues being considered.
