General Information
The State seat of Seymour was first created in 1989 and altered in a redistribution in 2002. It covers a large and diverse area and is predominently rural. It ranges from Healesville at the southern end with Seymour and Puckapunyal in the north. It also includes the major town centres of Marysville, Yarra Glen, Yea, Alexandra, Wallan, Kilmore, Broadford, Kinglake and Wandong.

Population
The population of the Seymour electorate continues to grow especially in the towns of Wallan and Kilmore in the Mitchell Shire. All towns across the electorate are experiencing a revival since the election of the Bracks Government in 1999.

Main industries
The Seymour electorate comprises a rich and productive area with abundant agricultural activity, including sheep and cattle grazing, wine production, aquaculture the production of fruit and vegetables and the breeding and training of racehorses. The Seymour electorate is also home to manufacturing, transport and service industries. Tourism is a major employer and driver of economic prosperity across the electorate. There are numerous quality tourist attractions in the electorate, including the Yarra Valley and Lake Mountain Resort, while opportunities for fishing, camping and bush walking abound. Great food and wine can be found in the Yarra Valley and Goulburn areas, and throughout the entire electorate.
